Iceland

Iceland has never been on my bucket list, but a combination of circumstances led me to start my journey here and it really is a beautiful and unique land. My traveling companions arrived a day before I did and I managed to find our hostel easily despite my fog from not sleeping overnight on the plane.

The biggest part of the day was spent relaxing at the famous Blue Lagoon. Perfect way to begin a trip.

The weather was cool but sunny. The light here is fabulous. Maybe it is the low angle of the sun.

We also toured Reykjavik a bit and had a traditional Nordic meal in a neat little restaurant with a view of the famous church across the street. I had mashed fish on homemade rye bread and a local beer, topped off with rye bread ice cream. Really. Wonderful day.
