Leaving tomorrow for another big journey. I am always nervous in the days before I leave, especially when a trip involves so much time and so many pieces. In many ways, this will be an easier trip than my Camino in 2014--at least not nearly as hard physically. But there are so many ways in which things can go awry on a trip this complex. I will be visiting Iceland; France, Switzerland, and Italy (these three while completing the Tour du Mont Blanc) with five friends; England and Scotland to hike the West Highland Way with my sister Julie; and finishing with a road trip through Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Austria as part of Derek's grand "retirement" celebration. Woo. Lots of connections to make, four languages and four monetary systems to navigate, lots of things to mess up. But this trip also has the potential to be absolutely amazing--new friends to build memories with and old relationships to renew, fabulous scenery, physical challenges galore. Follow along!
